Sawa All Together, is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation established in 1998 by a group of Palestinian female volunteers. Sawa is unique in the form of its mission as it stands against inequity and violence in all of its shapes. It is particularly committed to combat domestic violence, abuse and torment directed towards women and children. Through dedicated and tangible performance, Sawa is able to create social awareness and social counselling by challenging several traditional social norms and cultural taboos through: 121 Helpline, Training Centre, Counselling Centre, Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinic, Mobile Clinic, and professionals’ training.

Facts

More than one-third of children from ages 5 to 13, in Jabalya refugee camp (the largest in Gaza), reported being sexually abused.

Early marriage is common in the State of Palestine, with 24 per cent of women aged 20 to 49 years married before the age of 18, and 2 per cent of women aged 15 to 49 years married before the age of 15.
