ECPAT International is saddened to hear that on Sunday November 14, Sally Ujano, National Coordinator of the Philippines Against Child Trafficking (PACT), a close partner of ECPAT Philippines’s, was arrested. The charge of rebellion were filed in relation to a 2006 case, when Sally had been working with the Women’s Crisis Center (WCC).
The ECPAT International Secretariat urges governments and other civil society organisations to show solidarity, raise their voices, and call for her release. In a world of shrinking civil spaces, we must all play our part to ensure that our colleagues are able to continue to protect children from sexual exploitation.
