Today is International Youth Day. There are as many as 1.8 million children and youth exploited in prostitution or pornography worldwide. ECPAT International believes that children have the right to to live in a world without commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). Because of this, ECPAT International’s Youth Partnership Project (YPP) empowers children to help put an end to CSEC.
The YPP selects Peer Supporters among youth at-risk or those who are survivors of CSEC and provides them with a diverse range of capacity building opportunities.Trained Peer Supporters share information with their peers and provide support to prevent them from becoming victims. The YPP also provides micro grants for youth to design and implement projects to raise awareness about CSEC in their own communities.
The YPP promotes the active and meaningful participation of young people and has a positive impact on those involved by increasing their confidence, creativity and self esteem. Find out more about YPP here.
