ECPAT International is delighted to announce the appointment of Cornelius Williams as the new Chair of its Supervisory Board. Cornelius is the ideal addition to our leadership team. With over 35 years of experience in global child protection programming and child rights advocacy, he is the perfect choice to lead our organisation.
Cornelius has a distinguished career with leading international organisations, including UNICEF and Save the Children. As the former Global Director for Child Protection at UNICEF, he led several humanitarian and developmental programmes aimed at protecting children from exploitation, violence, and abuse. His leadership was instrumental in developing UNICEF’s Child Protection Strategy (2021-2030), which set new standards in addressing child protection issues worldwide.
He has served on various advisory boards and UN steering committees, including ID4Africa, CPC Learning Network, and the UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme on Female Genital Mutilation. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Consortium for Street Children and the Global Policy Board of WeProtect Global Alliance.
Cornelius holds a Master of Arts in International Child Welfare from the University of East Anglia, UK. He is a national of Sierra Leone and has worked across numerous countries, including South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Uganda, bringing a wealth of global experience to ECPAT International.
Cornelius Williams is the ideal candidate to lead ECPAT International to new heights in our mission to end the sexual exploitation of children globally.
