Today is International Day of the World’s Indigenous People

Posted on Aug 8, 2013

On the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People please remember that indigenous children all over the world are more likely to be abused than the general population. The reasons that Indigenous children are more likely to be exploited for sexual purposes are multiple and complex. Past and ongoing dispossession, social exclusion and racism are contributing factors. For some indigenous communities geographical isolation and a shortage of resources means that interventions are not widely available to victims.

We need your help to ensure that every child is protected from commercial sexual exploitation.
