Today is World Day Against Child Labour. Hundreds of millions of girls and boys throughout the world are engaged in work that violates their right to basic freedoms. These children are exposed to physical, sexual and psychological violence and deprived of their rights to healthcare, education, recreation and overall development. The consequences are long lasting and they impair children’s physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being. According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), there are currently as many as 1.8 million children exploited through prostitution and online sexual abuse. Please think about those children today!

ECPAT International and the South Asia Coordinating Group on Action against Violence against Children Rights Group (SACG) call for an urgent end to child domestic labour and all violence against children. Read the full statement here: SACG Statement- WDACL 2013 (3)
